One cold day in late November of 2011 I decided to escape the weather and drive the half hour to the Como Conservatory in St Paul, Minnesota. This is a favorite winter spot for me to find and photograph flowers during bad weather and cold. We all know that flowers don’t grow outdoors in the winter in Minnesota, so it is great to have an indoor area where flowers grow year round. On cloudy chilly days I find the conservatory to be an oasis for me. I reached the sunken garden and started taking photographs here and there. I realized I had reached the summit when I saw the Lily Pond. I spotted a majestic lily and knew I had my subject for the day. The one thing about digital cameras that I love, unlike film you can view your pictures right after you take them. When I found where I wanted to photograph from, I had to decide if I wanted to stand or crouch. In my seventies at the times bending two artificial knees for extended periods of time is not always easy. This time I felt it was well worth it. I hope you enjoy my Lily as much as I enjoyed photographing it’s beauty.
