While in Grand Marais, on the north shore of Lake Superior, in Minnesota, I decided I wanted some early sunrise photographs. After spending several days there hiking and climbing I decided to do this prior to leaving to travel further north towards Canada. First I checked with the tourist bureau to see what time the sunrise was expected the next day. Setting my alarm for what seemed like the middle of the night, I decided not to go out for dinner, instead I had a snack, and simply relaxed until falling asleep. Walking along the jetty to the lighthouse, the next morning, I saw several men and woman fishing this dawn morning. While waiting for the sun to rise, I realized that I shouldn’t have taken my chair out of my trunk before leaving, telling myself my next road trip I would make sure a chair was in my trunk.
This is the first of a my sunrise series. I’m not sure how many hours I stood on the jetty, waiting and photographing the sunrise. I do know it felt good to sit back down in my car. Hopefully you enjoy these photographs as much as I loved taking them.
